Serj Abdul-Jabbar is a motion designer and artist living in New York City.
Serj draws from a wide range of references from niche internet subcultures to ancient mythology to create work that feels both evocative and distinctly new. With experience spanning entertainment, tech, and consumer brands, Serj has led unique concepts and precise executions for campaigns that capture an audience’s imagination. His work moves fluidly between character-driven and comedic for titles like Ted Lasso, elevated and minimal for brands like Uber, and bold, high-energy visuals for partners like the NBA. Across everything, he brings a consistent focus on precision, intrigue, and inclusion.
As an artist immersed in the kaleidoscopic world of NYC queer nightlife and the DIY attitude of punk, Serj’s philosophy hinges on celebrating queer and trans stories and archiving their histories as they happen. His artistic practice includes experimental animation, documentary, and installation.
In his free time, Serj loves watching movies, playing bass guitar, and finding the best black & white cookie in New York (it’s Kossar’s). He graduated with his BFA in Fine Art and Design at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design.
