Serj Abdul-Jabbar is an award winning motion designer and moving image artist living in New York City. His practice finds inspiration from the kaleidoscopic world of queer nightlife, the dazzle of pop culture, and the DIY attitude of punk. Serj’s artistic philosophy hinges on uplifting marginalized voices and creating an archive of queer and trans histories as they happen. His artistic practice includes experimental animation, documentary, painting, and installation.
As a motion designer, Serj has worked with IPs, brands, and organizations such as AppleTV+, HBO, Showtime, NBCUniversal, Warner Brothers, Peacock, NBA, Google, Uber, Galderma, OGX, and more producing content for organic and paid social, digital campaigns, and out-of-home displays.
In his free time, Serj loves watching and making documentaries, chainmailing, and playing bass guitar. He graduated with his BFA in Fine Art and Design at the University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.
